Happy New Music Tuesday! We sat down with talented country star Easton Corbin for an exclusive Q&A about his music. We are crushing on Easton’s classic country sound and good looks! On Easton Corbin’s first record, he blew the doors off with not one but two number one hits – “A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll With It”. The new record, All Over the Road, is an awesome follow up. The current single, “Lovin You Is Fun” is heart-warming country that’s easy on the ears and just gets stuck in your head. Easton prides himself on making new but traditional country music. Originally from Florida, Easton found his way to Nashville Tennessee. Unfortunately for the hardware store that initially hired him, he was just too talented (and too cute!) to keep down. No more “aisle 13, just past the hammers” for Easton. You can buy his latest album on iTunes here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/all-over-the-road/id559977071
Here’s what Easton had to say about his musical influences and current obsessions!
Did you have a musical mentor or teacher and how important do you think that is for kids coming up today?
I did. His name was Pee Wee Melton and he taught me how to play the guitar. I think it’s great to have someone to look up to and who believes in you.
Country music has crossed so many audiences and generations. Why do you think so many people relate to it?
I think country music is the most relatable, lyrically. We write songs about our own lives, but also about real life situations that maybe our fans are or have gone through. It’s great to be able to connect to our fans like that.
Where do you think the greatest towns for BBQ?
Tough question. Kansas City you can count on, as with Memphis. We always make a stop while we are anywhere in Texas, too good not to. In Nashville though I like to eat at Jim ‘N Nick’s.
Are there certain parts of the country you particularly enjoy to play? If so, where?
I just like being able to be on the road and see as many fans as I can. But Texas feels like home. Just good people, great fan base there, and it’s always a good time.
Who is your all time country music hero?
Definitely Merle Haggard. He’s somebody I’ve always looked up to and aspired to be like.
What are you happily obsessed with?
There’s probably a few things I’m happily obsessed with. Cowboy boots, working on my Harley Davidson, and going hunting. Those are three things I will never get tired of.
